New Onion Fungicide for 2024 Luna^® Experience to replace Luna^® Devotion

In 2012 Bayer Crop Science introduced Luna Devotion, containing the new SDHI active ingredient fluopyram, as well as triadimenol, into the New Zealand Market. It set a new standard for onion white rot control.

When Luna Experience is now used instead of Luna Devotion, that control standard will be maintained, as Luna Experience still contains the highly effective active ingredient fluopyram. However, it is now formulated with tebuconazole as its partner. Both active ingredients are highly efficacious when it comes to controlling onion white rot. And by having a co-formulation of 2 active ingredients with different modes of action, Luna Experience contributes to resistance management.

Onion growers should expect to lose nothing when Luna Experience is integrated into their programme for onion white rot control. In trials Luna Experience demonstrated exceptional in-field disease control. This of course provides reductions in crop losses at harvest and later in storage, as well as improvements in produce quality.

Luna Experience should be applied at the same timing that Luna Devotion was, that is, first application at 100 – 150 white rot disease days (WRDD), followed by a second application one month later. So, there is nothing to complex about switching to Luna Experience.

The application for Luna Experience is different to Luna Devotion. Growers should apply Luna Experience at 1.25 litres per ha.
