Céline Blond
Based in Canterbury, Céline conducts product development and early stage trials in pasture and arable and horticultural crops on farms in various areas in Canterbury and at times, at the Bayer Hastings Research Station in Hawkes Bay.
Céline holds a MSc in Crop Protection from Angers University in France and a PhD from Lincoln University where she worked as a Research Technician focusing on insect pest biocontrol. Throughout her studies, Céline’s primary interest was insect pest control but enjoys every part of working in crop protection.
Céline joined Bayer in 2023, having developed her skillset conducting trials in arable, pasture and horticultural crops as a Field Scientist in similar previous roles.
Key to Céline’s role is developing an early understanding of new products and how they might provide solutions and bring value to farmers and growers in the field. Céline says “I love the fact that I’m always learning new things because I’m working with such a diverse range of crops. It never gets boring.”
She holds the belief that Agriculture is essential for humankind, and so greatly admires the way New Zealand Farmers evolve and adapt to the challenges and opportunities that present themselves. Céline says, “To be a part of that evolution, by helping to develop new solutions to those challenges is very rewarding.”
